For many years Eminem has proved that he is never stuck for words. I mean, all you need to do is listen to ‘FACK’ to realise that the man is a wordsmith.
He’s also gone a long way to show that just about any word can rhyme with another. Because of this he’s not very happy with the belief that nothing rhymes with ‘orange’.
In this clip from a few years ago, which seems to have resurfaced, the rapper does admit that ‘at face value’, the word doesn’t directly rhyme with anything, which it doesn’t. The 44-year-old then says that ‘once you figure out the science of breaking down words’ then you can make anything rhyme.
The video, which has been edited and re-uploaded by Genius, gives a few examples of Eminem’s work where he’s used ‘orange’ as a lyric.
In the song ‘Business’, from The Eminem Show album, he says: “Set to blow college dorm rooms doors off the hinges, oranges, peach, pairs, plums, syringes.” That is probably the best example of him manipulating the word to rhyme.
